Welcome to Saocurates

WELCOME!

Hi, I am Sao. Welcome to Saocurates—a space where I share my original poetry, thoughts, feelings, ideas, reflections, and everything else I carry in my headspace.

POETRY AS TIDYING MY HEADSPACE

First, let me be honest: I never really cared about poetry. I love music, but the lyrics were never my focus. And while I do love reading, I wasn't attuned to understanding poetry—something that became one of my insecurities, which I didn't want to face openly.

But creativity is a strange thing. Sometimes it pops out of you out from nowhere. One day, I was having a bad day and feeling pretty upset. (Nothing unusual, as I've had many emotionally miserable days.) I just began writing poetry—or something like poetry — just like that.

As soon as I started expressing my emotional states in poetic form, I was hooked. Soon after, I noticed how surprisingly cathartic it was. It felt like tidying up my messy, chaotic headspace: picking one thing up, giving a TLC, and putting it away neatly. I feel better doing that.

MY INSPIRATIONS FOR MY POETRY

My poetry is deeply personal. I almost always write based on my own experiences, thoughts, reactions, and reflections. I don't write to experiment with words or phrases—although I admire that kind of artistry. For now, my purpose in writing is simply to help me feel better about myself and begin changing how I see the world.

Like many of you, I've experienced a lot. But my relationship with those experiences hasn't always been healthy. I know I view people and situations through a lens shaped by my childhood, and I'm still observing life through that same lens. I want to change that—and writing poetry has, somehow, been guiding me in that direction.

WHAT THIS BLOG SAOCURATESOFFERS

On this blog, you will find daily poems that explore themes like parenthood, motherhood, friendship, love, loss, grief, trauma, inner child, family, and more. I also occasionally post "prose-style" writings or short essays.

WHY I CREATED THIS BLOG

I started this blog to create a space where I can "have a chat" with my thoughts, feelings, and emotional reactions from past experiences. Yes, I could have done this privately, but this project is also part of my creative journey that I want to share with anyone who might resonate with my experiences, thoughts, and feelings. I hope you will find this blog to be a quiet corner where you can visit from time to time.
